Meet the Doctors

Meet The Get It Straight Orthodontists

One of the many things we love about our office is working with the orthodontists: Dr. Terry Giangreco, Dr. Janis Preston, and Dr. Ron Cortese. Many local dentists and their families have been treated at our office, demonstrating great trust in our team. You will quickly feel a similar trust when you learn of the many attributes of our doctors. Their team approach Where Art Meets Science In Creating Beautiful Smiles is one of Get-It-Straight’s distinctions.

Dr. Terry Giangreco (Dr. G) is a native of Rochester who grew up in Irondequoit and attended Bishop Kearney High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University, where he majored in art. Even today as an orthodontist, Dr. G uses his artistic talents to create the most beautiful smiles possible. He attended the University of Buffalo Dental School and then completed orthodontic training at the masters level at Northwestern University, where he graduated at the top of his class.

Dr. Giangreco is a frequent lecturer, sharing his orthodontic expertise with area dental societies and dental study clubs on subjects which include the advantages of 3-D Diagnostic Imaging, the new Damon System and Invisalign. He has been published internationally on the concept of orthodontic computer imaging, a technique that allows him to predict orthodontic results with great detail and accuracy. He was a member of the Craniofacial Team at Strong Memorial Hospital, specializing in the treatment of cleft palate and skeletal jaw growth dysfunction. Dr. G is an instructor for Ormco Corporation, a leader in the development of innovative orthodontic products, training fellow orthodontists on the placement and use of TAD’s – a new cutting edge technology in the field of orthodontics.

Dr. Giangreco continues to remain a leader in the field of orthodontics. In early 2006, he received his certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. In order to maintain the highest quality of care for his patients, Dr. Giangreco attends numerous continuing education programs throughout the year to maintain his reputation as a leading edge orthodontic treatment clinician. He is a current member of:

  • American Association of Orthodontics
  • Northeast Society of Orthodontics
  • 7th District NYS Society of Orthodontics
  • Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics
  • American Dental Association
  • President of the Monroe County Dental Society - 2005
  • 7th District Dental Society
  • Wayne County Dental Society
  • Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society

Dr. Giangreco lives in Webster with his wife, Tricia, and their two sons, Vincenzo and Domenic. Finding time to spend with family is a top priority along with providing quality orthodontic care for his patients. Dr. G enjoys golf in the summer and snow skiing in the winter. If you are an early riser, look for him during the summer out on Irondequoit Bay, at the crack of dawn, water skiing.

Dr. Janis Preston, is a native of Rochester who grew up in Penfield. She began her career in dentistry as a dental assistant while attending Penfield High School. This is when she developed a passion for “getting it straight.” After graduating with honors, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Buffalo, she continued her education at Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. She remained at Howard University to complete her orthodontic training and graduated No. 1 in her class. Dr. Preston is also a member of:

  • American Association of Orthodontics
  • Northeast Society of Orthodontics
  • 7th District NYS Society of Orthodontics
  • American Dental Association
  • Monroe County Dental Society
  • 7th District Dental Society
  • Wayne County Dental Society - President

The addition of Dr. Preston to our practice is a great asset to the Get-It-Straight Team. She shares the same treatment philosophies as Dr. Giangreco and Dr. Cortese and is committed to providing area families with the finest orthodontic care available. Dr Preston has extensive experience in the use of computers to aid in orthodontic treatment. This “high tech” approach allows her to provide our team of doctors with the most accurate information for excellence in patient care.

Dr. Preston and her husband, Brad, live in Webster with their two sons, Blake and Cody. As avid golfers and skiers, they fit right into the sports theme at Get-It-Straight.

Dr. Suzanne Cassata, like all the orthodontists at Get It Straight, is a native Rochesterian. She started her career as a Dental Hygienist. After attending the University of Buffalo Dental program, Dr. Cassata received her Orthodontic Certification from the Eastman Dental Center at the University of Rochester. As a testament to her caring personality, Dr. Cassata was awarded the Fonzi Humanitarian Award from the University of Buffalo. Also, she has been published on the study of dental caries and enamel demineralization (cavities) and was a clinical instructor of Dental Hygiene at Monroe Community College.

Dr. Cassata is also a member of:

  • American Association of Orthodontics
  • Northeast Society of Orthodontics
  • 7th District NYS Society of Orthodontics
  • American Dental Association
  • Monroe County Dental Society
  • 7th District Dental Society

Following her father’s footsteps, Dr. Cassata joined him in private practice in 1991 and is a highly regarded orthodontist in the Greece area. Dr. Cassata joined the Get-It-Straight Team in 2009 and compliments our practice with her commitment to orthodontic excellence.

Dr. Cassata and her husband Ray live in Chili with their three sons Kyle, Justin, and Tyler. Whenever she isn’t creating beautiful smiles, she is spending quality time with her busy family.

Dr. Ron Cortese is a native of Rochester who attended Aquinas Institute. After receiving his undergraduate and dental degrees from the University of Buffalo, he served his residency in the U.S. Army in Germany. He returned to Rochester to practice general dentistry for eight years before returning to Columbia University to receive his post-graduate degree in orthodontics in 1971.

In 1988, Dr. Cortese was one of the first orthodontists in the Greater Rochester area to become Board Certified. This signifies a unique achievement, a step beyond the three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. Nationally, only one-third of the orthodontists in the United States are certified by the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr Cortese’s extensive experience is invaluable to our team. He has been a member of the teaching staff at Strong Memorial Hospital, Genesee Hospital and MCC. Dr. Cortese is also a member of:

  • American Association of Orthodontics
  • Northeast Society of Orthodontics
  • 7th District NYS Society of Orthodontics
  • Past Board Member NYS Orthodontic Society
  • American Dental Association
  • 7th District Dental Society
  • Monroe County Dental Society
  • Wayne County Dental Society

Dr. Cortese is an outstanding athlete. As an extreme skier, he conquered the glaciers in the Canadian Rockies for many years, as well as the slopes of HoliMont in Ellicottville, New York with his wife, Joann. He remains an avid golfer and is serving his second term on the Board of Governors at Oak Hill Country Club.
